Update On Venn Synthetic Reeds by D’Addario - Venn Generation 2

Last year D’addario released their new entry into the synthetic reed market with the Venn Advanced Synthetic Reed. I have enjoyed playing on these reeds as they seem to perform well and hold up endurance-wise. D’addario has just announced an update that they have made some improvements and will be releasing the second generation of these reeds. They have “implemented major changes to materials and design” to create this second generation. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until March 15, 2022, when these reeds are expected to start shipping to see what those changes are. Their press release does not divulge that information. One thing that will remain the same is that these reeds will still only be available for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and Bb clarinet. It would be nice to see D’Addario expand this offering to soprano and bari saxophones and to bass clarinet.
