This a picture of my grandpa Kamp when he was in the Navy. This morning my Grandma Kamp gave me this paper and website where they memorialize WWII vets. Kinda cool. They misspelled his name, it should read Wayne not Wayme.
ACTIVITY DURING WWII
HE WAS INDUCTED ON DECEMBER 7, 1942 AT NAVAL RECEIVING STATION CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. HE WAS STATIONED AT CAMP PARKS HAYWOOD, CALIFORNIA. HE WAS IN THREE DIFFERENT BANDS AND PLAYED FOR THE ARMY DANCES AT THE UNITED SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. HIS SHIP, THE SS HARRINGTON, WENT TO POINT BARROW, ALASKA ON JULY 27, 1945. THEY WERE FROZEN IN AT POINT BARROW UNTIL AUGUST 23, 1945 AS THEY COULDN'T LEAVE UNTIL THE ICE THINNED. HE WAS DISCHARGED ON DECEMBER 10, 1945
